About
Yo, I'm Japanese refers to memes and jokes inspired by a viral tweet by X / Twitter user @eem_hw that prompted discourse in early December 2024. The Twitter user quoted and criticized a race-swapped piece of Dandadan fan art drawn by @Lynn6Thorex. The quote tweet read, "Yo, I'm Japanese. Stop making Asian characters black. we're not Disney characters," and sparked criticism from people who did not find the fan art offensive and did not believe that the critical poster was Japanese. Several internet users cited the popularity of the Brazilian Miku trend as evidence that the outrage was insincere.
