Tiger King, Netflix's bonkers documentary series on the rivalry between Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, has emerged as the undisputed "Show of the Pandemic," and evidently, the craze is just getting started.

Last year, before the Tiger King mayhem started, Kate McKinnon had signed on as executive producer for a serialized dramatization based on the Joe Exotic podcast by Wonderly. The news barely made a blip at the time, but it was recently announced that McKinnon will also portray Carole Baskin.

Baskin became a hot topic after the show's premiere, for while the series focused on Exotic's murder-for-hire plot against Baskin, the mysterious disappearance of Baskin's second husband Don had viewers hypothesizing that she murdered him.

In a statement directed at McKinnon published by Entertainment Weekly, Baskin has implored the actress not to use real animals in her series, saying, "It would be cruel to use real big cats in a television series about cruelty to big cats. We hope McKinnon has a passion for animals and that her series will focus on the horrible lives captive big cats lead when exploited by breeders like Joe Exotic."
