AI-Generated 'Harry Potter By Balenciaga' Video Goes Viral, Proving That Generative-AI Video Is Up Next In Memes

A YouTube video uploaded by the creator demonflyingfox went viral over the weekend, showing Harry Potter characters in a Balenciaga runway setting. The inventive idea was aided by multiple artificial intelligence programs, commonly used to generate AI art.

In the video, entitled "Harry Potter by Balenciaga," stylized "high-fashion" versions of Severus Snape, Ron Weasley, Dobby and more are seen talking and moving, a feat previously unheard of in AI art generation.

AI video, in general, has undoubtedly been on the rise lately, slowly gaining momentum, discourse and applications over the past few months of early 2023. To make "Harry Potter by Balenciaga," demonflyingfox credited a mix of Midjourney, ElevenLabs and ChatGPT to generate the images, voices and text-to-speech.

Creator demonflyingfox has actually been related to a couple of AI art trends since the subculture's memetic rise this year. For instance, demonflyingfox was a main perpetrator of the AI-generated '80s dark fantasy images and the AI-generated '80s family sitcoms.

Since the "Harry Potter by Balenciaga" YouTube upload, it's rapidly gone viral across social media platforms, gaining over 3 million views on TikTok, as well as garnering attention via Twitter reposts, earning comments from notable people such as Twitter CEO Elon Musk himself.

While many found it humorous, the encroachment of AI-made video is coming on quickly, and possibly to an actual television network.

If the internet has learned anything from AI-generated Seinfeld or SpongeBob it's that Rick and Morty's "interdimensional cable" appears a lot closer than one would think.
