'Among Us' Animated Series Are In Development, And This Is Not A Meme
An Among Us animated show is reportedly being developed at CBS Studios, and by none other than Owen Dennis, the creator of the acclaimed Infinity Train series.
An animated series based on the 2018 sleeper hit indie game in which a team of crewmates attempts to complete routine tasks while figuring out who is the murderous impostor among them is currently in the works, Variety has reported.
Around noon EST, the official Among Us Twitter account then confirmed the announcement in a tweet that read, "WE'RE MAKING AN ANIMATED TV SHOW," quickly racking up almost 30,000 likes in two hours.
Owen Dennis, the creator of the critically acclaimed Infinity Train animated series and a writer on Regular Show, is attached as the show's creator and executive producer, which is something that got fans of the series and Among Us hyped.
According to the series logline, Among Us follows the premise of the original game with a team of crewmates on a spaceship (or a planetary base) that is being invaded by a shape-shifting alien bent on slaying them one by one and without getting caught.
Also much like the original game, the series instantly spawned viral reactions and memes as word rapidly spread.
Released in 2018, Among Us became a cultural phenomenon in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, providing much-needed social interaction to people stuck inside their homes.
Among Us grew to become a lasting presence in the memescape, spawning other 20 notable sub-memes such as Amogus, Among Drip and When the Imposter Is Sus.
