Concerning Number Of People Fall For 'Disbussing Film' Tweet Saying Jon Bernthal Will Play Infamous NFL Player Aaron Hernandez
Twitter users have been bamboozled by a parody tweet yet again, as a concerning number of people are discussing Punisher actor Jon Bernthal's upcoming turn as former NFL tight end and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez in a Netflix series that is definitely not happening.
The culprit behind the hoax is the parody account "Disbussing Film," a riff on the Twitter account "Discussing Film" that posts legitimate entertainment news.
Following the success of ‘DAHMER’, Netflix is producing an Aaron Hernandez limited series with Jon Bernthal in the leading role.

In case it was not clear by the "b" in the name "Disbussing Film" and the account's upfront assurance that it's a parody, Disbussing Film is not telling the truth here.
It's a joke aimed at the controversial decision on Netflix's part to make a series based on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Still, a surprising amount of people took the tweet at face value, and Bernthal's name trended as users wondered what he would bring to the part.

They couldn’t have found a better person to play this role. So much respect for Jon Bernthal and what he does for men’s mental health. I know he’s gonna put his all into this. https://t.co/uOKejk7cQv

We don’t need more films on serial killers…. Can we just fast forward Jon Bernthal into the MCU so he can play the role he was born for as “The Punisher?” … Im asking for ME https://t.co/bf8mHP68iT

Fortunately, some people were able to spot the obvious parody, but at the time of writing, they appear greatly outnumbered by people expressing their appreciation for Bernthal's acting ability and distaste for television series about real-life killers.

The saga is yet another example of social media users being unable to catch on to parody no matter how obvious the satirist tries to make it. Still, of all of the account's tweets to blow up, at least it wasn't the one where they say Timothée Chalamet's Willy Wonka will focus on the character's foot fetish.
