In late January, Netflix announced it had greenlit a live-action adaptation of popular manga and anime One Piece. The ten-episode series will be produced by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, which is also producing a live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop.

Details on the upcoming series are scant at the moment, but that hasn't stopped fans from dreaming of its cast. The most popular fan-casting at the moment is Adam Sandler in the role of Kizaru, one of the top members of the series' antagonistic marines.

For years, One Piece fans have remarked that the character looks strikingly similar to the Uncut Gems actor.

The announcement of the live-action series led to a sharp increase in the memes, for while the series' heroes, the "Straw Hats," are reportedly already cast, the admirals have yet to be announced.

With the success fan-driven meme campaigns have had in recent years, it will be interesting to see if Netflix tries to make the Sandler casting a reality, as Sandler has been part of a very lucrative partnership with Netflix in recent years.
