Gamers Are Stoked To Learn 'Hitman' Team Is Working On A James Bond Game
This morning, IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman, revealed a teaser for "Project 007," their foray into the world of James Bond video games.
Bond games have been a notoriously hit-or-miss genre, with every classic like GoldenEye having a stinker like GoldenEye: Rogue Agent. However, the announcement of IO Entertainment intrigued gamers. For starters, the game is a 007 origin story in which players will have to "earn their 00 status," and while no gameplay format has been revealed, players were curious about what a 007 game in the style of Hitman would look like.

If any developer has a shot at making 007 a AAA gaming IP, it's IO. pic.twitter.com/BLQUiYAmWA— Ryan Brown 🎮 (@Toadsanime) November 19, 2020
The fact that we as a collective species manifested a new 007 game from IO Interactive after years of saying “they’d make a great Bond game” is really something incredible. #Project007 pic.twitter.com/J0uExdfFqZ

Hitman has been consistently great forever and this is such a good choice and I’m really happy for IOInteractive, god this rules. https://t.co/TlTFv8nFIE

The modern Hitman games are the most James Bondish that a non-Bond game has ever been – hell, considering the whole game isn't about gunplay, it could be more Bondish than a lot of actual Bond games – so I'm excited for how this could turn out. https://t.co/H9QNmHiaeP

As of now, there's little information about Project 007, including how it will play and when it will release. The IO Website states that development is taking place "on modern systems," so it's likely it will come out on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
