Gay people are celebrating a false conspiracy theory put forth by a rabbi that the COVID-19 will make you gay.

The conspiracy comes from Israeli rabbi Daniel Asor, an Orthodox rabbi who maintains a modest YouTube following with 14,000 subscribers. "Any vaccine made using an embryonic substrate, and we have evidence of this, causes opposite tendencies," he told his following (the "opposite tendencies" he mentions refers to sexuality. He also believes the vaccines are a ploy by a New World Order to create a global government.

Israel Hayom, who first reported the story, asserts that his theory has no basis in fact. Still, it was picked up by Queerty, whose tweet of the story attracted the attention of several high-profile LGBTQ+ celebrities.

In response, many jumped in to say they'd happily flip sexualities if it meant ending the pandemic.

Responding to Asor, Havruta, an LGBTQ activist group in Haredi society, saidn it was "currently gearing up to welcome our impending new members."
