On August 26th, 2021, Twitter user @GarbageApe tweeted, "Dateline September 26th, 2021: Vaccine rates in the United States approaching 90% one month after a public service announcement from Real Life Peter Griffin encourages viewers to 'Go out and get the shot – It's freakin' sweet.' The future …if we want it.

On September 21st, 2021, Family Guy released a public service announcement in which Stewie explains the safety of COVID-19 vaccines. Coincidence?

In the PSA, Stewie and Brian go inside Peter, Magic School Bus-style, to explain and demonstrate how vaccines work. The PSA is peppered with some Family Guy-style jokes, but most of it is relatively straightforward with its information about the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Monday's Jimmy Kimmel Live, McFarlane made no reference to the tweet that seemed to speak this entire situation into existence, instead joking that he wanted to join his colleagues at Fox News in promoting "hard science."

"On the news side, they’re in their imaginary fairyland. And then you have the entertainment side, and it’s like we have to exist with these people, so let’s be political and let’s make this best of it."

The very fact the PSA exists was weird enough for social media users to joke about the surreality of the situation.

At least one user saw the potential upside in a Stewie Griffin-led vaccine PSA.

Be careful what you tweet: it just might come true.
