Apple's 2023 Wonderlust event, which the company uses to unveil new updates and products, has, as usual, received a lot of buzz. This year, Apple announced that the new iPhone 15 will be one gram lighter than the iPhone 14, use a USB-C charging cord and have a titanium case.

All of these new features, of course, come along with a price hike as well.

Many commenters believed that these changes were too small to make the product actually "new" in terms of another generation or model of smartphone. This isn't the first time that Apple has been accused of not innovating from phone to phone, as previous memes attest.

The company still has its fans, however, who will likely jump at the opportunity to buy the new smartphone. Some users were genuinely excited to see the new features, including the new USB-C charging cable.

While it won't outright say so, Apple's hand was essentially forced in this major change by the European Union, which passed a law last year that requires phones, tablets and cameras sold there to come equipped with a USB-C port by the end of 2024.

The Apple event also saw CEO Tim Cook (or Tim Apple if you prefer) make his acting debut in a skit with Octavia Spencer, in which she played Mother Earth and he promised her that Apple would do better for the environment.

These big splashy Apple events started with Steve Jobs. They involve demonstrations, performances and talks about new products and initiatives undertaken by the tech giant.

Each year, a series of bloggers and accounts committed to covering the company post and comment on its every development — it's like the tech company's State of the Union.
