U.S. President Joe Biden is the subject of memes today regarding last night's State of the Union speech.

Throughout the evening, the President addressed modern issues regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as rising inflation and fears over nuclear war. Apart from the seriousness of the event, there were plenty of meme-worthy moments posted online today.

One moment that inspired countless reactions and memes was when President Biden fumbled his words while saying "Ukrainian people," with some thinking he instead said "Iranian people," adding to an expanding repertoire of gaffs from the commander-in-chief. It proved to be easy-picking for meme creators on Twitter, who didn't hesitate with their reactions. Additionally, Vice President Kamala Harris was seen in the background of the President, purportedly mouthing the word "Ukraine," which only added to the virality of the moment.

Perhaps the other most meme-worthy moment from the night was when Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert from Colorado heckled Biden during his speech. When the President was discussing toxic burn pits and the cancers inflicted on Iraq and Afghanistan soldiers of the past, Boebert blurted out, "You put them in, 13 of them," in regards to the withdrawal of American troops in Afghanistan over the summer: a withdrawal that subsequently led to the Taliban Offensive. Multiple members of the assembly from both sides of the aisle booed Boebert in response.

Boebert was also seen wearing a jacket that read, "Drill Baby Drill," on its back, leading to more controversy surrounding her. It all came to a head when Boebert and fellow Republican representative Marjorie Taylor Greene chanted, "Build the wall," as the assembly was applauding remarks from the President. An image of the two of them chanting with their mouths open circled social media, leading to the exploitation of their likenesses.

Other screencaps and imagery became the subject of memes as well, including a headline that was exploited by meme creators who replaced the latter half. Others compared VP Harris to the brown M&M, wearing an all-brown suit while sitting behind Biden. Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez were also included in the content regarding the event.

The SOTU always inspires memes, especially this year with the growing tension overseas and Biden's decreasing approval rating. All eyes were on this address from both worried citizens and ironic meme-makers alike.

Another hot topic of debate and memes was when Biden discussed the infamously contentious defund the police movement. At one point, President Biden said the solution to protecting communities is not to "defund the police" but to "fund the police." The statement quickly stirred up reactions and outrage from some users on Twitter, causing "defund the police" to trend on Twitter despite receiving bipartisan applause shortly after his quote.
