On Twitter yesterday, a woman snapped a pic of her local street cart, selling corn, or "elote," and other Mexican street foods. She asked her followers in the caption to Zelle him money for no reason. Little did she know, Luis the Elote Man would make a lot of money after that tweet.

Over the course of the day, @skonkas0nly's tweet racked up over 106,000 likes from Twitter users trying to make the wholesome reality come true. In fact, many of them actually did send Luis money over Zelle, an application similar to Venmo and Cashapp.

As users kept sending him money, they posted screenshots of their transactions in the replies with some generous people sending him up to $100. Of course, Luis started taking notice, wondering what was happening and why he was receiving so many deposits. With some people, he actually called them up, like @jessealba17, who said, "He called me thanking me and confused and I explained the twitter viral thing, But people he's more then thankful for everything! 🙏"

Other users started to joke about sending themselves money "for no reason," linking their own transaction handles in the replies. However, many of these reactions were met with resistance, except for one user, who linked his mom's street cart in hopes that people would help out her small, Latina-owned business.

Roughly 24 hours later, @skonkas0nly gave an update to the situation, stating in a tweet that Luis didn't go to work the following day. He was scared his bank was going to get him in trouble for receiving all the money. The small update ended with her saying that she was going to check on him tomorrow and buy more corn from him. She thanked everyone for donating and alluded hope for Luis.
