Twitter's Community Notes is one of the few widely celebrated recent additions to the app and proved its worth as a vehicle for shock after it popped in under an otherwise unremarkable tweet from 2022 earlier today.

Twitter user @ptrain67, real name John Poulos, was charged with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Colombian DJ Valentina Trespalacios, according to a March 2023 report from The Daily Mail. Poulos, 35, is accused of murdering his girlfriend on January 22nd, just one month after celebrating their impending marriage on Twitter, and throwing her remains in a Bogota dumpster.

The story resurfaced earlier this week after several Twitter users discovered Poulos' above tweet, dug through his Twitter and accused him of subscribing to Andrew Tate's misogynistic ideology. From there, Evie Magazine published a piece connecting Poulos to a trend of "passport bros," which it defines as men who frequently travel abroad for the purpose of dating foreign women. The piece included Poulos' above tweet, which led to it getting hit with the Community Notes amendment and in turn helped it go viral on Twitter.

Poulos is the father of three from a previous marriage and has been in custody since January 24th. He had planned to fly to Turkey and then Montenegro on the 25th, where he could not be extradited to Colombia. The trial began on April 17th, and Poulos faces 35-50 years in prison if convicted.
