Men Going Their Own Way Will Have To Go Somewhere Else After Reddit Bans /r/MGTOW
After ten years hosting one of the most controversial hubs on the internet, Reddit has quietly banned /r/MGTOW.

The subreddit served as a hub for a community of men who believed in separating themselves from women and a society they found to be too "corrupted" by feminism. In the years of its existence, the subreddit has been accused of espousing anti-feminism, sexism and misogyny as well as alt-right and white supremacist viewpoints. GQ called it the "Taliban" of the manosphere. In January of 2020, Reddit quarantined /r/MGTOW after U.S. Coast Guard Christopher Paul Hasson was arrested for stockpiling weapons and reading far-right manifestos, allegedly for the purpose of carrying a terrorist attack. His most-visited subreddit was /r/MGTOW.
It's unclear why the ban happened now after the quarantine. Users in the /r/AgainstHateSubreddits theorized that the investigation into Hasson prevented Reddit from banning /r/MGTOW until the investigation concluded.
There are plenty of other forums online for refugees of /r/MGTOW, though none of are as visible as Reddit. The blog We Hunted The Mammoth reports that some former /r/MGTOW users are using a Reddit-like clone called "ruqqus," where they're optimistic that they can post freely without the feminists of Reddit.
