The Milk Crate Challenge took a deadly turn recently when a number of people participating in the trend were shot at in Louisiana, resulting in the deaths of 19-year-old Paris King and 34-year-old Lazarus Thomas. The shooting was recorded, and a video of it started spreading around Twitter earlier this week, showing a man reaching the top of the milk crates pyramid right before the group gets shot at in what seems to be a drive-by situation.

Details of the shooting are scarce, and it is unknown if the people in the video performing the challenge were the intended targets. Shortly after news of the shooting broke, and in response to the controversy surrounding the challenge being dangerous, TikTok took action by removing content related to the challenge to discourage people from taking part in it. The hashtags "#milkcratechallenge" and "#milkcrate" show no results when searched on the platform.

The Milk Crate Challenge has been controversial since it started earlier this month. Most of the videos show the participants failing to walk across the milk crate pyramid, resulting in some big, potentially harmful falls.
