About

Here's Your Receipt, Sir! Will There Be Anything Else? refers to a series of memes based on a suggestive four-panel webcomic in which a retail clerk asks a customer who just purchased a box of Magnum condoms, a rope and a roll of duct tape whether he needs anything else. Spawned by a viral voiceover meme, the format was popularized as the setup for bait-and-switch memes on YouTube in late April 2021.

Origin

On November 7th, 2019, NSFW artist meru_nyaa tweeted[1] a suggestive four-panel comic in which a female retail clerk sells a box of magnum condoms, a rope and a roll of duct tape to a customer, asking whether he needs anything else (shown below). In the last panel of the comic, the customer then grabs the clerk's shoulder. The clerk's appearance and name are based on Twitter user @BestestSammy.

The tweet received over 4,000 retweets and 26,400 likes in 18 months. A November 21st Newgrounds[9] repost by the author gained over 55,200 views and 600 favorites in the same period.

On April 14th, YouTube[2] user The Man With a Gas Mask reuploaded the meme to YouTube, where it received over two million views in three weeks (shown below).

Spread

Starting on April 22nd, 2021, cursed.voiceovers' meme received further spread online through more reposts on YouTube[3][4] and Instagram.[5]

ON April 24th, 2021, YouTube[6] user Mauricio Shirley Fallen posted the earliest found derivative meme, editing in Staring Hamster and a Rickroll bait-and-switch. The video (shown below, left) accumulated over 26,400 views in two weeks. On April 26th, YouTube[7][8] users Ghostcat JPEG and Plasbez posted two versions of the meme, gaining nearly 100,000 views and 40,000 views in two weeks, respectively (Ghostcat JPEG's edit shown below, right).

In late April 2021, the format achieved a notable presence on YouTube with a number of high-engagement videos, some of which utilized the Good Ending / Bad Ending supplementary format.
