The Newest COVID-19 Variant, Delta Plus, Enrages And Depresses Thousands On Twitter

Yesterday, a new strain of the coronavirus was found in South Korea. This one appeared to be a variant of the Delta strain and was hence named "Delta Plus."
With early reports suggesting that Delta and Delta Plus strains may be more contagious, even to those that have been vaccinated, Twitter users became either enraged or depressed at the news.
South Korea’s Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Tuesday that it had recorded at least two cases of the new coronavirus delta plus variant, which some experts believe to be more transmissible than the original delta variant. https://t.co/4ngntHjr6C

Not one for staying down long, Twitter quickly went back to doing the usual, which is making memes about the virus in an attempt to lighten the mood and attain clout. Most of the memes revolved around Delta Plus sounding like a streaming service, and COVID itself having too many different versions and variants out in the world.

Thousands started to like posts that followed one singular sentiment — realizing that the coronavirus constantly mutating and potentially infecting those with vaccines means that it is something we might always have to deal with in the future. This depressed many, who posted about the grimdark future where coronavirus just keeps mutating and spreading, while others were looking forward to the lockdown and return of stimulus checks.
