On Twitch, most streamers go live and stream for an average of three to five hours, with the stream consisting of either reacting to things online, watching other types of content, playing video games or participating in a variety of different genres such as IRL streams.

While most streamers are only live for this average of three to five hours, sometimes a streamer will do what is called a "subathon," which is when they let their fans determine how long they stay live by contributing donations to a continuous timer.

In the case of streamers PayMoneyWubby (Wubby/Dennis) and Alluux (Alex) over the course of the last week, this turned into the two becoming somewhat hostages to their own fanbases (mostly Wubby, which we'll explain later) for roughly 153 consecutive hours.

Beginning last Friday after much preparation ahead of time, Wubby and Alluux kicked off their subathon to thousands of viewers, which planned to go no later than tonight.

Every streamer who does a subathon usually has their own individual rules or gimmicks, and Wubby and Alluux were no exceptions.

For their subathon, which they dubbed the "dubathon," Wubby and fellow streamer (and manager) Alluux were both live at the same time, creating a unique dual-subathon in which fans who donated while watching the subathon on Wubby's Twitch channel would add time to the counter, but fans donating on Alluux's channel would take away time from the counter, creating a dynamic in which one team could face off against the other to either prolong or shorten the time the content creators would be forced to be live for.

However, an extra bonus incentive was also added, with donations of 69 gifted subs causing a leaf blower to activate and 99 setting off his iconic gong, scaring the duo during whatever event or activity they were doing. As you can imagine, this created some hilarious results throughout the week.

In one memorable instance earlier this week, the leaf blower rigged above their heads went off while they were playing the horror game Amnesia The Bunker, resulting in humorous screams.

Another caught Wubby playing some Counter-Strike during a moment when he was focused on the game.

On Sunday during one notable moment, the donations to the subathon flooded in and the stream received the coveted "Golden Kappa" — a special version of the Twitch emote known as Kappa that is extremely rare (though the exact causes to trigger it are unknown).

During a Magic the Gathering unboxing of the Portal Three Kingdoms set, Wubby also pulled several high-value cards from the box, including an Imperial Seal valued around $1,000.

While there were some ups and downs throughout the week that come with being on camera for such a lengthy period of time (all while dealing with annoying trolls in chat), the "Match Game" production on Wednesday was another particular highlight in which the crew consisting of Wubby, Alluux, Yeb, Booty, Peanut, Carlos, TT, Ash, Adri, Maiya and DJ participated in a livestreamed gameshow.

As the days and subscriptions rolled into the wee hours of the morning today, Wubby eventually surpassed many other notable streamers like xQc as he reached the top five on Twitch for most active subs.

The dubathon was set up in a way that when the timer was under 30 minutes, fans who donated on PayMoneyWubby's channel would make the timer increase by 20 seconds instead of 10, leading to a situation in which to better optimize their spending, fans would keep the timer hovering around that mark while spending various bits at a time.

The end finally came in a spectacular fashion after roughly 153 hours, with fans of Alluux waiting for the timer to get down close enough that they used donations to shave off five seconds at a time with a massive donation to bring the timer from over five minutes to 00:00 in one fell swoop.

While both Alluux and Wubby expressed how tired they were after the week-long stream, the two thanked their communities for their support and shut down the stream as memes and tributes flooded the subreddit.

In the final moments, perhaps reflecting on his previous 24-hour stream, Wubby notably said that he would likely never do another subathon after this — but he also didn't say it was entirely out of the question either.
