WARNING: This article may contain leaks for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Read at your own caution.

For just about 23 years, Pokémon fans have had to look at the pathetic visage of Dunsparce, a Pokémon who may well be the blandest, most useless Pokémon ever created.

That may sound harsh, but in a franchise with close to 1,000 Pokémon, Dunsparce truly has nothing going for it. It's the relatively weak Normal-type, has extremely mediocre stats, learns basically no good moves and doesn't even have an evolved form to make raising it worthwhile for any efficient trainer. At least the classic series punchline Magikarp turns into the actually-very-good Gyarados with a little love.

However, the leaks pouring out of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may have answered fans of the sad little guy's prayers, for Dunsparce may finally be getting an evolved form. The bad news is, it's this:

In what sure feels like an excellent bit of trolling from Pokémon, Dunsparce appears to finally get an evolution, but rather than turn into a majestic creature a la the aforementioned Magikarp, it merely becomes … more Dunsparce.

Not much is known about Dudunsparce, as it's called. Leaks seem to suggest that it remains Normal-type and may be simply a middle evolution on its path to becoming an even bigger Dunsparce (Dududunsparce?).

Whatever the case may be, the leak did inspire some love and laughter among Pokémon fans, most of whom felt they were hearing a very good joke, albeit a welcome one for the oft-forgotten Dunsparce.

There are still four more days until Pokémon fans will know once and for all if A) Dudunsparce is real, B) it's any good, and C) it has another evolution, or perhaps an endless chain of evolutions that keeps getting more "Dunsparce" as it goes along, culminating in Dududududududududududududududu …
