Political Consultant Suggests Projecting Giant Holographic Joe Biden Onto Grand Canyon, Fortnite-style
If the words Joe Biden and Fortnite don't sound like a match made in heaven to you, then you're likely not a Democratic political consultant.
Inspired by the very popular Travis Scott Fortnite Event recently, Lis Smith, who served as a campaign adviser for Pete Buttigieg, was asked how she might handle the Democratic National Convention in the time of the coronavirus outbreak. She told Politico:
"Travis Scott’s takeover of Fortnite… if we could do that with Joe Biden [for the convention], Joe Biden projected over the Grand Canyon, that might be a little bit ambitious, but we could have exclusive musical content from some of the biggest musical artists in the game at this driving eyeballs to the convention so that people watch them."
While this would certainly be a step-up from recent Biden technological campaign events, it's unclear if anyone is actually taking Smith's idea seriously. In a cheeky write-up about the idea for Slate, Ashley Feinberg noted Smith "likely doesn’t mean literally inserting Joe Biden into Fortnite… [she] likely just means some sort of virtual mass event that would allow people to feel close to Biden without any fear of disease transmission."
Nevertheless, headlines featuring the words "Democrats," "Joe Biden," and "Fortnite" were simply too good to pass up for most publications, as Democratic presidential candidates and video game references don't have a good track record.

This tweet by Christopher Ingraham suggests the Democrats should go bigger, and frankly, an endlessly screaming Joe Biden may be a more effective avatar for motivating Democratic voters than what the things they've tried thus far.
if you ask me, we're not thinking
