Redditors Celebrate As Femcel Subreddit /r/FemaleDatingTips Goes Private, Migrates To A Standalone Forum
The controversial female subreddit that has been accused of being a femcel and trans-exclusionary community, /r/FemaleDatingStrategy has gone private with the intention of migrating most of its userbase to a separate website.
On Wednesday, moderators of the controversial sub /r/FemaleDatingStrategy, or FDS for short, set the community to private, redirecting visitors to a standalone forum. The community has found itself under fire from the larger Reddit userbase and received several violation strikes from Reddit admins, ultimately making a decision to leave Reddit altogether rather than take its chances in hopes of avoiding the banhammer.
The subreddit, which launched in 2019 with the original goal of helping female Redditors in dating and avoiding abuse, has grown to over 240,000 members over the years. The subreddit eventually developed its own lingo for men and dating, such as categorizing men as "low-quality" and "high-quality," referring to them as "scrotes" and describing women who degrade themselves for and cater to men as "pickmeisha" or "pick me girls."
Drawing increasingly more attention on Reddit, FDS has been accused of being a "femcel" (female incel) community and of banning transwomen, among other issues.
The subreddit has been laying the groundwork for its migration for some time, creating a standalone forum and encouraging its users to move there. FDS also provided its own list of reasons for abandoning Reddit, listing "male user userbase overreporting female subs," "Reddit hiring pedophile admins and power mods" and "Reddit Admins continuing to allow the manosphere presence" among the reasons for its exodus.
With the reputation of /r/FemaleDatingStrategy being what it is, it's no wonder Reddit shitposters were quick to bust out some memes to celebrate it fleeing the ship.
Whether /r/FemaleDatingStrategy intends to remain private forever is currently unknown.
