Actress Sydney Sweeney has come under fire on social media in recent days after Instagram photos of her mother’s country-themed birthday party showed her family members wearing red "Make Sixty Great Again" MAGA-style baseball caps and Blue Lives Matter clothing.

The party was for her mother’s 60th birthday and the theme appeared to be a pastiche of country music, line-dancing and cowboy culture. Many attendees, including Sweeney herself, wore retro old west-inspired clothing.

Some fans of Sweeney – who is most famous for her work on the HBO shows Euphoria and The White Lotus – were apparently shocked by the perceived "conservative vibes" of her mother’s birthday party.

Both Euphoria (a show famous for its portrayal of drug use and teen sex) and White Lotus (famous for its portrayal of class conflict) have decidedly liberal fanbases. Other members of Euphoria's cast have also been criticized recently for their supposed political positions or controversial actions.
