Perhaps the most famous couch in memes (or second depending on who you ask) that served as the backdrop to the original Doge meme and it's millions of variations is reportedly set to be auctioned off during a livestream hosted by PleasrDAO next Tuesday.

PleasrDAO is the group that bought the original Doge NFT and broke it down into smaller bits back in 2021, selling them to fans with each sale contributing to a charity named in Doge's honor.

According to the announcement, the sale of the couch (still currently owned by Atsuko and Kabosu after all these years) will also benefit the charity organization, which regularly donates to pet centers around the world. Pleasr's website for the auction states that it will start at 8:30 p.m. EST on February 7th, with the livestream (and special guests) kicking off at 7:30 p.m. EST on February 8th.

As part of the lead-in hype for the sale next week, the group OwnTheDoge, which was set up by PleasrDAO, has been running a meme contest to drum up grassroots interest in the auction, as well as giveaway individual pieces of the original Doge NFT to the top contenders.

This has led to a surge in Doge-couch-centric memes proliferating online, which it seems no one has been complaining about judging from the number of submissions.
