UPDATE: This story has been updated to reflect UTA denying they have signed Hailey Welch.

Hailey Welch has, unfortunately for this pun, not hawked her way tuah deal with the talent agency UTA (United Talent Agency).

United Talent Agency (UTA) has denied signing Hailey Welch to a deal after Page Six reported the information on Wednesday morning. According to an update from TMZ and Mediaite, a UTA spokesperson called the report "made up" and "untrue."

That's Showbiz Baby

Welch, better known as the "Hawk Tuah Girl," went viral earlier this month for giving perhaps the most prominent snippet of oral advice since Angel demonstrated the Grapefruit Technique, becoming a bafflingly massive meme. Her bedroom tip gave rise to a rumor that she was fired from her teaching job, though that was a hoax. It seems hoaxes have a habit of following Welch.

Page Six first reported the news – and dubbed Welch a "phlegm fatale," which, fair play. It's unclear how the false story circulated.

While Welch is not represented by UTA at the moment, she's already been capitalizing on the Hawk Tuah craze with merchandise featuring the phrase that costs $43 a pop.

In the initial reaction to the false news, social media users were split about whether to cheer for Welch or to bemoan the state of an entertainment industry where so many artists are struggling but will offer opportunities to a girl who imitated the sound of a spit.
