Angel's Grapefruit Technique, also known as the Grapefruit Method, refers to a viral video of "Auntie Angel," aka Denise Walker, instructing women on how to perform oral sex on a man with the aid of the grapefruit. The video, and in particular the noise Walker makes as she's demonstrating how to perform fellatio, drew media attention in 2014 and inspired parodies, memes and reaction videos over the following years.

Origin

Walker teaches sex classes on various sexual topics and techniques under the name Angel's Erotic Solutions.^[1] On May 7th, 2014, Walker, who now has the YouTube handle Angel Grapefruit lady, uploaded her technique to YouTube, gaining over 6.3 million views (shown below).

Spread

The video quickly inspired parodies and reaction videos. One of the earliest parodies placed the oral sex portion of the video into a scene from South Park, gaining over 38,000 views (shown below, left). On June 20th, 2014, h3h3productions uploaded a reaction video that gained over 3.3 million views (shown below, right).

The video also saw media coverage. Cosmo^[3] wrote an article about the technique on May 21st, 2014. Walker was interviewed by Vice^[2] in an interview published on July 10th. Bustle^[4] published an article by a woman who attempted the technique on July 17th of that year. The technique was later referenced in the 2017 film Girl's Trip.^[5]

Additionally, the video was remixed in several popular musical parodies. A popular video by NovusOrdoNapoleonus uploaded September 19th, 2014, remixed the Grapefruit video with the track "On Sight" by Kanye West, gaining over 1 million views. A video uploaded by Cappercapsen uploaded August 4th, 2015 gained over 112,000 views (shown below, right).
