Our long national nightmare is over: Sinnoh Confirmed.

The Pokémon Company released its highly anticipated 25th-anniversary presentation this morning with speculation running wild that this would finally be the presentation in which they announced Diamond and Pearl remakes. The company delivered, showcasing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, which will be faithful remakes of the original games (so those worrying about Let's Go adaptations can rest easy). The games will be developed by ILCA, who handled Pokémon Home development, rather than GameFreak, though it will be directed by Game Freak's Junichi Masuda and ILCA's Yuichi Ueda. The games are scheduled to launch in late 2021.

The presentation also announced a new game called Pokémon Legends Arceus, which will also take place in the Sinnoh region but in a time long before the events of Diamond and Pearl. The game appears to expand upon the open-world concept introduced in Sword and Shield and showcased a catching mechanic that doesn't involve battling or encountering the Pokémon. The game also utilizes three starters that have not appeared in Sinnoh before: Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlet. The game is scheduled for an early 2022 launch.

The presentation also included some gameplay footage of New Pokémon Snap, though that was quickly overshadowed by Sinnoh hype.

So how did Pokémon fans, notoriously fickle and difficult to please, react to the presentation? Well, it might be the first time fans came together in universal praise of a Pokémon announcement.

The Chibi art style of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl inspired plenty of memes as well.

So, gamers… Unova confirmed?
