While Many On Twitter Bemoan Rebrand To 'X', The 'Kingdom Hearts' Fandom Is Having A Great Time
While it seems few are fans of Twitter's rebrand to “X” for a variety of reasons (not least of which is that "X" sounds like an adult entertainment website), one fandom is surprisingly having a field day with the news: that of Kingdom Hearts.
"X" is of particular significance to the video game series for … some reason. The notoriously dense lore of Kingdom Hearts has long been a meme for fans of the series, and perhaps nothing is more symbolic of that than its continuous use of "X," or more specifically, "χ" (pronounced chi).
Some prominent examples of the use of X in the series include the video game Kingdom Hearts Union χ, an "χ-blade", a "Subject X", the series' antagonists Xehanort and Xemnas (who are probably the same person) and all the Organization XIII members prominently featuring an X in their name, which they refer to as "Recusant's Sigil."
If that all sounds like gobbledygook, it may explain why fans of the series, who love it in spite of the convoluted lore, are celebrating the similarly wacky change to Twitter that, at the moment, appears only to have been done to satisfy a lifelong whim of Elon Musk.
There's an air of Kingdom Hearts Mentioned! among the fandom right now, as fans are posting memes that seem to express joy at a very niche bit of Kingdom Hearts lore being somewhat relevant at the moment.

Of course, fans of Kingdom Hearts have spent the better part of 20 years defeating all things "X," which may not bode well for Musk's latest controversial tweak to Twitter.
