After almost two weeks of public silence, Moriah Rose Pereira, YouTube's strange-pop prima donna who is better known as "Poppy," has broken her silence on an ongoing legal drama with fellow YouTube singer-songwriter Mars Argo.

Yesterday's tweets from the 23-year-old internet sensation come on the heels of a lawsuit filed by Mars Argo, whose real name is Brittany Sheets, against her and her producer and collaborator Corey Mixter last month, which alleged that they had ripped off her persona for profit, while seeking a restraining order against Mixter, who happens to be Sheet's former boyfriend and ex-collaborator.

In a statement released via Twitter, Pereira called the allegations of copyright infringement and domestic violence “false” and Sheets' ploy to raise her public profile, who is expected to release her second studio album later this year. She also claimed that neither she nor Mixter were made aware of the lawsuit before TMZ reported it.

“It would appear Ms. Sheets was intent on building a publicity campaign around her filing of a complaint and was not interested in our lawyers first having a serious discussion about the merits of her claims,” the singer tweeted.

Throughout the rest of the statement, Pereira disclosed her own past with abuse by a man who is now collaborating with Sheets, a long-kept secret that she says she had hoped to keep private. Additionally, she revealed her own feelings of betrayal towards Sheets, who she claims to have known for years.

“It is shameful that Ms. Sheets would try to exploit another female artist in this way for personal gain, out of nothing more than bitterness and a desperate grab for fame. ”

Following the statement, Pereia posted a series of cryptic texts that include images of a pair of restraining orders filed by Mixter and Pereia against Joshua James Moran, a musician who is reportedly working on a new album. Finally, Poppy posted a security camera footage that supposedly shows Moran attacking Mixter.

Mars Argo filed suit against Poppy and Titanic Sinclair in April 2018, accusing the pair of not only stealing her act, but also alleging that Mixter had been abusive and manipulative during their relationship.

Prior to his work with Poppy, Mixter was the creative partner of Mars Argo. The two produced YouTube videos that are, in fact, curiously similar to the ones he produced with Poppy. The complaint mentions two videos called “Delete Your Facebook,” one by Mars Argo (and features Mixter) and the other by Poppy, which is three minutes of her saying “Delete your Facebook.”

Earlier this year, Pereia starred in a pilot YouTube Red original series called I’m Poppy, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
