Peridot did say she wasn't involved in the actual experiments, her job was to just check on their status. I'm sure Steven must have explained that to Garnet.

Gotta hand it to Garnet, after her reaction to first seeing the Fusion Experiments, I'm surprised how well she's handling Peridot being around.
