Part of me wonders how valuable Peridot is to Yellow Diamond… I'm guessing not at all, and she just doesn't realize it.

Now, she's actively defying Yellow Diamond's authority to stop the cluster and save herself (if there are no ulterior motives there.) Who would probably just tell her to take one for the team and watch the fireworks.
