well I can say that on his feelings for Blake, Adam & Blake are RWBY's take on Beauty & The Beast. and at first, The Beast (who in some versions is named "Prince ADAM") does not love Belle but considers her a prisoner of his, hence this way of Adam considering Blake "his" in a very unromantic way.
