On a less stupid note: this might work as a good way of summarizing fusions. They pour their soda (power) together to form something bigger… but when mixing the same type, there is often little difference. When mixing varied types, you can begin to get combinations that are new and unique.

Also, some combos end up really nasty (Malachite, to some extent Sugilite).
