Yeah, this argument crashes quickly when the gems are agendered space rocks. And how dare you call Greg infantilized when he's one of the most mature people on the show, especially when he was given the $10 million royalties and didn't waste it all like an immature adult would.

The female characters are demigods? Who exactly fits that description? The only characters on this show that've been shown even remotely as extremely confident and powerful would be Rose herself, and maybe Garnet (as she has the least amount of baggage compared to any other character we've seen.) Everyone on this show has been shown to have a lot of issues with themselves or the people around them, varying to certain degrees. Be they Gem or Human, they all have it. (It's called good writing and character development.)

Not to mention there are many examples were Steven (the male) is the hero, helping everyone else out in his own way. Or even Greg, who is shown to be a very caring and capable person. Their gender. Means. Nothing.

As for the subtext, you can honestly debate about this kind of thing until the sun implodes on itself. But the fact is, the lesbian tones of the show aren't something that are put into a spotlight or shoved into our faces. They are simply characters continuing to be the well written characters that we've come to expect from the staff working on this.
