1. Steven's sexuality has never been explored beyond his crush on Connie.
2. The gems are still everything they were before character development.
3. Garnet is still the disciplined leader, she's just not as closed off as she was at the start of the show. Which is good thing because eternally stoic characters get boring after a while.
