Guy Stuck In Vase, also known online as Urn Guy, is the nickname given to a man purportedly named Connor who got himself stuck in a vase at a house party in Mountain Brook, Alabama in early January 2024. The incident and subsequent process of getting him out of the vase became a viral video and thread on X / Twitter, with many memes and references made to his predicament and how he looked being stuck in the vase.

Origin

On January 1st, 2024, the X account @CasualThursday[1] created a thread in which they detailed an account of a drunk man getting stuck in an urn at a Mountain Brook house party in Alabama. In the thread, they detailed how the person was being consoled by those around him as a sledgehammer was being located and talked about his eventual freedom. The initial post on the thread received over 1.9 million views, 10,000 likes and 1,200 reposts in eight days (shown below).

On January 6th, 2024, Redditor u/EricArtr[2] uploaded video footage of the event in question, naming the guy as "Connor" and showing him lying on the ground stuck in the urn as people attempted to help him get out of it to no avail. The video gained over 6,300 upvotes in two days (shown below).

On January 7th, 2024, X user @TheWapplehouse[3] claimed to have obtained video footage of Connor being stuck in the urn but upright, as well as footage of him being chiseled out of it, posting it directly on X. In the footage uploaded, Connor can be seen talking to the group of people around him, with him being teased by others for being stuck in the urn before it quickly cuts to footage of the people using a hammer to destroy part of the urn and start to free him (shown below).

The video showing Connor's predicament quickly went viral on X, leading to a lot of memes and references being made at his expense. On January 7th, 2024, the X account @JavisRahman[4] uploaded a photo from the video game Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy in which the main character is a man stuck in a large pot and only has a hammer to use to move around, with the caption saying to get [Connor] a hammer and garnering over 600 likes in two days (shown below).

On January 7th, 2024, the X account @Bradjchester[5] quote retweeted the footage of Connor being stuck in the vase from the first video, claiming that it is part of a ritual performed in Mountain Brook, Alabama in which a drunk guy is put in an urn to see if he can free himself, with his eventual result being the same as Groundhog Day (shown below).
