I kinda get the issue with the characters not being explained – the movie does need to be more than just a 90 minute episode, which means they need to draw in people beyond the show's current audience and so need to explain, for instance, that Shining Armor is Twilight's brother. It's not like you're born knowing that.

Everything else makes no goddamn sense. Also, they complained about the length of the "game" twice.
