The coals and flame probably used her pain as a catalyst, symbolic ally binding her to Aku's service. The show is quite full of parallels. That's why she cleansed herself in water, as water is fire's elemental opposite symbolic ally. People have made the criticism that the show is full of religious symbolism, and indeed, in many religions, water is seen as a purifying agent, often in baptism: a spinitual rebirth and acknowledgement of repentance. It symbolized her giving up her attachment to Aku. Being cleansed and then donning apparel made from the nature around her only further confirms her change, as she has now embraced the love of nature which saved her So no. She wasn't naked, guys. She was clothed in Aku's darkness quite literally, fueled by pain, hatred and suffering, only being able to discard it once she rejected that part of herself
