My biggest problem with this is that…YES, those are valid comparisons. Dragon's Dogma does share Dark Souls' sense of being a frail human biting off more than you can chew. Path of Exile has a similar tone; you're trapped in a bleak, hopeless situation and you only learn about the strange world you're inhabitting through small bits and pieces of information. But those traits aren't entirely unique to Dark Souls. You could just as easily say Path of Exile is "The Mountains of Madness as an Action RPG" or that Dragon's Dogma is "The Berserk of video games". Those comparisons are both accurate and inaccurate in almost all the same ways. That's the entire point of GENRE: to group many things together that are only slightly comparable. Dragon's Dogma isn't the "Dark Souls of Fantasy RPGs", it's a Dark Fantasy Action RPG, which Dark Souls also is.
