I actually agree with the sentiment. I get that it being the very first stage ever makes it "special" in a way, but… yes, it is a bit overdone by now. What about Angel Island..? That stage does not get nearly as much love as it deserves. Hell, it is even more important to the lore than Green Hill.

In all honesty though as expected as the stage is in anniversary styled games, I'm always interested in seeing how they'll try to change it, if at all, so there's that which is nice. In other words I'm usually not as annoyed as some others since I can often understand why they include it.
