The sad reality is that people are trying their hardest to simply nitpick on the game because of the existence of Sonic Mania. It just seems like people only whine about things that were removed rather than praise the things that were added. They try to persuade people into thinking that a linear Sonic game is a bad one. After all of the complaints they got for Sonic Lost World, sega pushed themselves to remove those problems; bringing back the boost formula, bringing back Classic Sonic, but tuning his gameplay to be less automated, and adding the ability to create your own hero. Sega listened to the fans and delivered, but since Sonic Mania came out, everyone's just acting like Mania's the best Sonic game ever... News flash, and here's the painful reality. It isnt. Time to hit you guys with some reality... Sonic Mania is nothing more than a cheap, indie-developed game with terrible graphics (that the devs can't even do better than Sonic 2 HD, which is also fan-made, and don't gimme crap about retro graphics either because they can look better than that) and fantastic music. It only holds the candle of being a DIRECT copycat/emulation of the original games it emulates rather than being it's own thing. The controls don't feel different, like an evolution, they feel like they were made by Sega in 1993. It isnt HOW SEGA MAKES SONIC GAMES, and it MOST CERTAINLY ISN'T THE CORRECT WAY EITHER. It's only good as a "what if" scenario For people who have PLAYED FAN HACKS AND FAN GAMES BEFORE, MANIA WILL NOT DELIVER, as it's just a REHASH of older levels with VERY FEW newer levels. It only works with NOSTALGIC PANDERING. It lacks the identity of Sega, as the evolution of Sega is seen in their games, and their objectives are clear: Sega's thoughts about Sonic: Sonic is a platforming game with a huge emphasis on speed. Sonic should be granted speed from the get-go, and nothing should stop him other than a few enemies and obstacles. Sonic never attempts to slow you down, and will aid you with speed boosters to keep the speed rolling, springs that'll make your head twist and turn with high-speed antics and action, and keep your ears busy with wonderfully composed music! Sonic should keep the game going with fun, over-the-top speed and action that never stifles the players speed, and impress them with occasional scripted sequences to keep the player pumped The main objective of Sega's Sonic games these days are...well fun and WOW factor, NOT HOW OPEN THEY CAN MAKE A LEVEL. NOT HOW "OMG SONIC NEEDS TO ALWAYS BE A GAME WHERE INPUT IS REQUIRED 24/7. C'mon guys! A little scripted sequences here and there doesn't hurt because "It takes from the player" YOU FREAKIN' GOT THE HEDGEHOG TO THAT EVENT, MEANING YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DID IT. Many games do this today, so WHY would it be considered a BAD thing with Sonic? You guys MAKE NO SENSE. First of all, the complaints we hear ONLY GEAR TOWARDS FANS BEGGING FOR THINGS THAT ARE IN CLASSIC SONIC GAMES, such as LACK OF SPEED BOOSTERS, SLOWER GAMEPLAY, (Seriously, let's think about how many times we've heard "Speed should be rewarding". Really? Speed should be REWARDING, WHILE YOU'RE PLAYING AS THE FAST THING ALIVE!!? REALLY!!?" NOO00 KEEP GOING FAST F--- THAT!!), and have TONS OF ROUTES to take Look, that's what makes Classic Sonic great. Hell, that stuff is even in Sonic Forces for Classic Sonic, so I don't wanna hear about ph His physics are fine they're not awful like SONIC 4 EPISOD about Forces not being as meaty as Generati cut it out! It feels identical to Generations, but understand, but that doesn't make it A BAD SS scripted. All of this SONIC GAME. It just means that the game went a different route But the o wall jumping!" So what? t drift!!" So the game do llow for it this time But levels end quickly!!" So did Ge ations' stages. No sonic game actually dr out levels other than Sonic Heroes and other games tha ma ng a s The Blue Blur, so they ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING RIGHT THIS TIME. Don't DENY IT c Sonic's music is horrible s better!" So you for genesis-style Sonic mu z it's But C WAAAY better than S4E mu Look, modern Soni about going f ith mi ervi ma EED. This game red.
