Every champion has been like that, no joke the only champion who ever beat me was Gary, and that was because I was a dumb-ass 7 year old that somehow fought him with mons who where 20 levels under. Lance was a joke, as long as you have ice beam, thunderbolt and surf he is toast. Same applies to Steve, all his Pokemon have rock or steel typing, so fight and ground wrecks him, and a good thunderbolt. After Ruby I dropped the series, I wasnt engaged anymore, I actually came back with X and Y, because 3d Pokemon, Diantha is the weakest champion I had ever fought, I actually sweep her whole team with one pokemon, fitting as X and Y is the easiest pokemon game I have ever played, and that is saying something. Sun and Moon won me back as the difficulty is acceptable (hardest pokemon I played barring 1st gen), as long as you tweak it: battle system to set, no Z moves, and turn off the exp share. The totem pokemon are a great replacement for gym leaders, as they are infinitely harder and engaging if you go without knowledge of their strategy. I just wish the game pushed you harder. Dont hate Hau, as he had an actual character arc, havent finished Ultra Moon so I dont know how different he is from Moon Hau
