Who Is 'Dolly Dimpley,' The 'Smiling Friends' Self-Insert OC? Here's Why People Are Shipping Her With 'The Cool Autistic Gamer 774'
Over this past weekend, fan art of a dark-skinned, blue-haired, curvy cartoon character inexplicably wandering into Smiling Friends scenes went viral online.
The character is named Dolly Dimpley, and we can thank YouTuber and creator Critter Clipz 2002 for making her up.
This isn't the first time the popular Adult Swim show has attracted artists intent on seeing their original characters alongside Pim and Charlie.
Chronically online fans also remember "The Cool Autistic Gamer 774," another Smiling Friends self-insert character who went viral earlier in 2025, and they are intent on "shipping" the two romantically.
Here's a recap of Dolly Dimpley, from how the character came to be to how she went viral online.
Who Is Dolly Dimpley, the Smiling Friends Self-Insert OC?
In October 2025, YouTuber Critter Clipz 2002 began posting videos that dropped a self-made character, Dolly Dimpley, into scenes from the animated show Smiling Friends.
On October 5th, the channel shared a minute-long video titled "Smiling Friends – Mr. Frog Pulls Pim's Hair," which used footage from season 3, episode 2, titled "Le Voyage Incroyable de Monsieur Grenouille." Dolly appears walking through the Smiling Friends universe alongside protagonists Pim and Charlie.
The video quickly gained traction, receiving over 56,100 views and 3,700 likes in three weeks. Appearance-wise, Dolly Dimpley is depicted as a Black woman with long, light-blue hair reminiscent of Hatsune Miku.
She wears a black-and-purple zip-up crop top layered over a blue undershirt, green shorts, green headphones and a yellow beanie emblazoned with the Smiling Friends smiley-face headquarters logo.
Critter Clipz 2002 followed up his initial self-insert clip with additional videos, including one on October 21st that placed Dolly alongside characters Allan and Glep from season 3, episode 3, "Mole Man," gathering over 93,000 views and 6,900 likes in just five days.
Who Is Cool Autistic Gamer 774, and Why Are People Comparing Dolly to Him?
As fun as it is to see Dolly Dimple in Smiling Friends, it was Cool Autistic Gamer 774 who did it first.
He first appeared on YouTube at the end of May 2024, inserting his crudely drawn mascot (who really resembled Morty from Rick and Morty) into the footage, sometimes slapping it over another character’s face or having it interact with the scene.
The mascot evolved from a flat JPEG into a lip-synced 3D model, leading some internet users to semi-ironically speculate whether the editor might secretly be on the Smiling Friends team, or even Justin Roiland himself.
By early 2025, clips featuring the mascot went viral across Twitter / X and Reddit, earning widespread fan art and memes.

When Critter Clipz 2002's Dolly Dimpley videos began going viral, Smiling Friends fans started treating her like Cool Autistic Gamer's spiritual successor.
I found this YouTube channel called Critter clipz 2002 that edits Smiling Friends scenes with their OC in them. This is either an in-joke amongst the crew or someone's OC. Regardless, TheCoolAutisticGamer's influence is spreading…#smilingfriends pic.twitter.com/3NbW1mz1BO
