That's what I've been thinking. The new ones just seem blander. Sure it's nice to have more minority humans and all but aside from Maz almost none of the new/background aliens have been memorable. Just vague, dull, generic, ugly aliens for the humans to walk past and mostly ignore. As many problems as the prequels had at least most of the alien designs were fun, interesting, and distinctive. It just doesn't feel like star wars without those classic ones. Hopefully the Han Solo movie has more of them.
Yeah, so far all the aliens we've seen are just so… bland and samey. All hooded with masks, or ones with big creepy smiles, lots of browns and oranges, and there's also the ones that are kinda similar to previously seen aliens, like Zuvio here…
Is supposed to be the same species as Embo…
And this guy…
Was apparently supposed to be the same species as Tera Sinube…
But they forgot to put the beak on, so they had to make the TFA alien a sub-species of Sinbue's race.
It's so weird that they have hundreds of species to put in the movie, and yet ignore the classic, iconic aliens that have become so familiar to Star Wars fans.
