This is actually exactly why I prefer cats. Dogs are fine and all but I can't always be "on" enough for them; cats require a level of interaction that's much more manageable for me.

Dogs are extroverts, they show their love for you very transparently. Cats are introverts, even if they do stuff that drives you utterly nuts and only seem to show up occasionally, they love you quietly. (Probably.)
