I'm typing this with my tongue. Does no one consider the cumulative effects of breathing in small amounts of gas over time? Lung cancer rates will skyrocket. Who knows how this will effect other body systems. Do you think Oregon should allow self-serve gas stations statewide? Yuck! Pumping my on fuel in freezing temperatures and handling a nasty ole fuel nozzle that 50 other people have touched that day (and who knows what cooties are on there), no thank you. It's nice to not have to pump your own fuel. Yes No Not a good idea, there are lots of reason to have an attendant helping, one is they need a job too. Many people are not capable of knowing how to pump gas and the hazards of not doing it correctly. Besides I don't want to go to work smelling of gas when I get it on my hands or clothes. I agree Very bad idea. If your only marketable job skill is being able to pump gas, by god, move to Oregon and you will have reached the promised land. Apparently most people in Oregon assume that in order to pump gas you must first remove all people from the vehicle and stand in the open while thugs attack from all angles, all while being sprayed with gas I've lived in this state all my life and I REFUSE to pump my own gas. I had to do it once in California while visiting my brother and almost died doing it. This a service only qualified people should perform. I will literally park at the pump and wait until someone pumps my gas. I can't even If you read the comments on here you'd think that 48 other states are total anarchies run by neglectful parents and people who hate the elderly. Your kid can sit in the car for the 3 minutes it takes you to pump gas. It's not about safety, you're just azy I was forced to pump my parents gas when i was 10 years old, i even somehow managed to fight off the savages and make it inside the store to pay with cash. Man. It's like those people in infomercials who can't perform menial tasks. "Do you have trouble pumping your own gas?" guy grabs pump handle and spr himself in the face* Then do we have the state for YOU!' ays I don't want to pump my own gas, hate the smell and having to get out in the Winter in a skirt, no way
