I prefer Potara fusions. Just because it offers a lot more as far as character design, seeing as it also fuses their outfit and not just giving them all the same vest and pants. (Though I still want to see a canon female dance-fusion just to see how their chest is covered.)

And the show's already established that Gems don't need to dance to fuse. It just depends on their connection.
