This is a new easter egg in the Switch port of DKC Tropical Freeze (the parrot you see is who takes over the shop if the player is controlling Funky). I wonder if any other easter eggs to the 90s animated series are hidden away in this version of the game.

Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog Old arcade games often had "kill screens" that ended the game due to a glitch. The kill screen in Donkey Kong Jr. is on Level 22. The time calculation in Level F overflows the timer so it results in a time limit that is too small to reach the goal. DK Jr. can not get very far before dying like this. Curiously, the exact same glitch also made Level 22 in the Donkey Kong arcade a kill screen.
