Now that I think about it, his flashy pose is actually practical.

If he miss the grab, he's at least shielding his face and it'll hit his ear at worst instead of eye/nose. I say that as more than once trying to intercept a ball or assorted projectile, only for my hand cupping too early/late and getting a faceful.

Awesome Yet Practical, in the parlance of that site that should not be mentioned.
