I think everyone in Ghostbusters 2016 was awful, but the director Paul Feig was the one that got the most shit. He was the one that insisted on the female ghostbusters, the toilet humor, making so much of the acting improv, etc.

If I recall, Leslie Jones is a terrible actress and person who contributed nothing of any value to the movie and made everything she touched worse for her being there. Seems a fair person to blame. Being a woman doesn't make you immune to criticism.
