I'll grant the Nazi and Commie thing, but we were a heavy influence on modern Japanese culture. Anime was originally inspired by old American cartoons, after all.

We didn't hand-craft modern Japanese culture, it developed on its own and has its own roots, but we certainly "altered their timeline" pretty drastically. We can't really say "we never asked for this".
